How it works At present a variety of options exist for reading on the iPhone. Visiolink has developed the program ‘Newspapers’ which will be the basis of this article. The application functions as a newspaper portal, where the readers can login and choose between different newspapers. From here, the user will be able to read news in 3 different modes: ‘Read Paper’,’10 Minute Mode’ or as a ‘Live Feed’. |
| Different Read Modes Read Paper resembles reading a physical newspaper. The reader can flip through all pages and obtain a better overview of the newspaper. If the user wants to read a particular article he/she simply needs to double tap the screen. In the 10 Minute Mode the main stories of the day are listed for reader convinience. Live Feed is a RSS feed from the choosen newspaper where news are constantly updated. |

Benefits the reader and publisher To read news on an iPhone is not something new. But the ability to download and read the newspaper typically delivered to the home is a new and interesting way to keep oneself updated. It has some of the same advantages as we described in the last article (indsæt link til artikel), including the option of always having the newspaper readily available even when away from home etc. |
New Revenue Streams This also opens for a new list of opportunities for the newspaper publishers. It provides alternative revenue streams and a possibility of reaching a new audience. The subscription services remain the same, when a reader becomes a subscriber it will be possible to access the newspaper via the iPhone. Alternatively newspapers can be sold on an edition basis based on the micro payment principle. The also newspaper keeps the same layout as the physical paper allowing for transfer of ad placements. At Visiolink we work hard on creating the newspaper of tomorrow, so if you would like to be on the forefront of the media business contact us for more options on e-distribution. |
